Beatrice, NE : A vehicle crashed into two buildings in a residential area of Beatrice on February, Thursday 15th 2018

A vehicle crashed into two buildings in a residential area of Beatrice on Thursday afternoon before leaving the scene of the crash.

Just before 4 p.m., police responded to a call at 918 W. Scott St. where a vehicle had slammed into the side of the home. No injuries were reported, but the crash damaged two buildings and left deep tire tracks in the lawn after hitting the curb at the corner of Scott and 10th streets.

“Sounds like he must have been coming west is what we're deducting (sic),” said Beatrice Police Officer Jennifer Klaus. “Then, struck the corner of 319 S. 10th St., then hit the east side of this house.”

The vehicle narrowly missed two satellite dishes and crashed through a piece of corner siding and a drain pipe before hitting the side of the home at 918 Scott St., damaging the siding and breaking some drywall inside before backing up and heading eastbound on Scott Street, Klaus said.

Scanner reports indicated that the driver may have fled the scene in a blue, 1996 Ford Explorer, a fact discovered because the crash knocked the license plate off the vehicle.

“It was left here at the scene,” Klaus said, holding the plate, “so we have at least a lead.”
