Tacoma, WA : Man critically injured in ATV crash near Mount Rainier on Sunday, September 3, 2017
An ATV crash critically injured a man Monday night near the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park.
Rescuers said the 42-year-old man went over a cliff in the area of Evans Creek ORV Park. The park is a popular spot for off-road driving, located close to the Mowich Lake Road entrance to Mount Rainier.
The victim suffered head and leg injuries and was in critical condition, according to East Pierce Fire and Rescue, one of the responding agencies.
First responders had to use ropes to haul the man up the slope back onto the road, the fire agency tweeted. He was riding a QuadRunner at the time of the crash, and wearing a helmet at the time, the agency said.
