Walnut Creek, CA : Six cars were involved in a crash on Interstate 680 on early Wednesday morning September 3rd 2014
At least six cars were involved in a crash on Interstate 680 early Wednesday morning, creating a morning commute mess but not injuring anyone seriously, the California Highway Patrol said.
All lanes reopened at 7:38 a.m., slightly more than an hour after the wreck near the southbound Treat Boulevard off-ramp, CHP Officer Ron Simmons said.
The CHP closed three lanes immediately after the wreck, causing traffic to spill onto side streets and bringing cars on I-680 to a halt.
Simmons said six, possibly seven cars, were involved the crash, but details of how the crash unfolded were not available.
A deer also was struck by a car on the freeway just south of the wreck, but it was not believed to have caused the wreck, Simmons said.
