Cadiz, OH : Woman driving a Hyundai car attempted to cross the highway and crashed on U.S. Route 22 on Thursday afternoon October 2nd 2014
An accident occurred on U.S. Route 22 just outside Cadiz on Thursday. Around 2:30 p.m., a woman driving a Hyundai car attempted to cross the highway, heading toward North Main Street of Cadiz. She pulled out in front of a Sal Chemical semi-truck that was eastbound, and the truck hit her car broadside. Both vehicles slid off the road into the parking area of Atlas Gas. Units from Cadiz Fire Department and Scio Fire Department responded, along with Cadiz Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A female juvenile was initially trapped in the car, and after being freed she was flown via medical helicopter to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. According to Cadiz Fire Chief Leonard Merryman, the young girl was awake and speaking before being flown, but the extent of her injuries is not clear.
