Memphis, TN : Two people injured after two cars crashed near Highway 64 and Germantown Parkway on Thursday January 21 2016

Two people were taken to Regional Medical Center after two cars crashed near Highway 64 and Germantown Parkway.
Shelby County Sheriff's officials said a man ran a red light on Highway 64 at Interstate-40. The patrol unit saw him and attempted to pull him over.
Deputies identified the man as 20-year-old Ernest Powers.
Investigators said Powers crashed into a vehicle at Highway 64 in front of Longhorn Steakhouse restaurant after running the light. He then left the scene on foot but was later caught and is now in custody.
Officials said he was drunk and will be charged with DUI.
One man said his stepson and fiancee' were in the car and have been taken to the hospital after being trapped inside the vehicle. There is no word on their condition at this time.
"She is our only child. We just got here. We got a phone call they were in an accident so we wanted to come by here," Sandy Tomlinson said. Tomlinson is the mother of the female victim.
Powers' charges include: driving while under the influence, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries, minor in possession of alcohol, no driver's license, reckless driving and violation of financial law. He is expected in court Monday.
