Two women died as a result of a three-vehicle crash early Monday morning.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office said deputies, along with officers from the Milton and Edgerton Police Departments and troopers from Wisconsin State Patrol, responded to the crash on N. State Highway 59 just north of E. Jacobs Drive in the Town of Milton around 3:30 a.m.
An initial investigation revealed that a SUV being driven by a 23-year-old Milton woman was northbound on N. State Highway 59 when the driver crossed the centerline and collided head on with a southbound minivan. The minivan was being driven by 34-year-old Stoughton woman. Both vehicles became inoperable and blocked both lanes of the highway. The driver of the SUV got out of her vehicle and was standing near the shoulder of the road. The driver of a GMC Acadia, a 30-year-old Milton man, swerved to avoid hitting the vehicles and struck the driver of the SUV.
The driver of the SUV was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead. The driver of the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and was in stable condition. The driver of the GMC Acadia was not injured.
