Westminster, MD : One person dead after car and tractor trailer carrying apples collide on Route 27 in Carroll County on Friday morning, February 19, 2016

Police are investigating a fatal accident on Rt. 27, in Westminster on Friday morning.

According to police, around 4:00 a.m. a tractor-trailer carrying sliced apples was traveling on Rt. 27 when it went through an intersection and struck a car. Both vehicles caught fire as a result of the crash.

Police confirm one person has died. Their identity is being withheld at this time.

The intersection of Rt. 27 and Kate Wagner and Chapel Road will remain closed as police conduct their investigation
