Morgan City, LA : Bicyclist injured in crash in St. Mary Parish on Wednesday, August 17, 2016

A person on a motorized bicycle was hospitalized Wednesday after the bicyclist allegedly ran a stop sign in Morgan City and crashed into a car.

At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, police received a call of a vehicle crash involving a bicyclist at Fifth and Duke streets . Police determined that the bicyclist was heading east on Fifth Street and did not stop at a stop sign, Morgan City Police Capt. Betty Augman said.

The car headed north on Fifth Street and had the right-a-way when the bike crashed into him, Augman said.
Augman said the car didn’t seem to have enough time to get out of the way. The bicyclist was airlifted to an unknown hospital with unknown injuries, Augman said. The investigation is ongoing.
