Reston, VA : Fatal single-vehicle crash in Reston on Friday, 24th March 2018
A 23-year-old man from Maryland died March 24 after striking a traffic signal pole. FCPD officers said they responded to the area of Baron Cameron Avenue and Hunter Mill Road around 1:15 a.m. that morning for the report of a single car crash. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Johnny Nony Souvannavong of Upper Marlboro, was the only occupant of the car.
Detectives from the FCPD Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash and say they believe speed to be a factor.
Polioce say the Subaru was traveling eastbound on Baron Cameron Avenue near Hunter Mill Road when a tire went off the roadway. The driver apparently over- corrected and lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to cross over eastbound lanes, the center median, and westbound lanes before striking the traffic signal pole. Souvannavong was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
