A pedestrian struck by a vehicle Saturday night near Loop 101 and Seventh Street in Phoenix has died, according to authorities.
At about 9 p.m., a man was crossing eastbound on Seventh Street when he was struck by a vehicle, said Lt. Paul Taylor, Phoenix police spokesman. The man was not using the crosswalk and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, Taylor said.
The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and called 911, staying to cooperate with responding officials, Taylor said. The driver of the vehicle was not impaired at the time of the collision, Taylor added.
The Phoenix Fire Department arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead, Taylor said.
The man's name was not released Sunday afternoon because relatives had not yet been notified, officials said.
