- An Oakley police officer was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Wednesday morning, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office said.
The accident occurred at 8:30 a.m., in the area of Brownstone Road and Kessler Lane, as the officer was conducting a traffic stop.
The officer had turned on his emergency lights in an attempt to apprehend a vehicle, but was struck by a car. Sheriff's officials did not say if he was struck by the car he was trying to pull over, or if the driver remained at the scene or cooperated with authorities.
The officer was taken by helicopter to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and later released.
