Accident on I-70, Driver of Mercedes-Benz got hit by pickup truck and suffers life-threatening injuries in morning around 9 am in Columbia, SC.
Man suffers life-threatening injuries after I-70 crash:
Columbia firefighters prepare to take to University Hospital the driver of a Mercedes-Benz that was involved in a wreck on westbound Interstate 70 at about 9 a.m. Tuesday. A witness at the scene said the car was stalled on the interstate at the 128 mile marker near Range Line Street when a pickup struck it from behind, spinning both vehicles around.
The driver of a BMW also was involved when he drove on the right shoulder to avoid the wreck. The Mercedes driver suffered life-threatening injuries, Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief Brad Fraizer said, and the occupants of the other involved vehicles refused medical treatment. Both westbound lanes were closed for about 30 minutes, and a portion of the eastbound lane was closed briefly during the cleanup, Fraizer said.
