Hesperia, CA : Motorcyclist died after crashing with a truck on Bear Valley Road early Friday morning, April 22, 2016
Sheriff's deputies closed part of Bear Valley Road for more than nine hours on Friday morning after a 26-year-old Victorville man died in a collision, authorities said.
Morning commuters on Bear Valley Road were forced to detour after deputies closed it between Hesperia Road and Second Avenue. The road was not reopened until a few minutes before noon, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 2:19 a.m. on Bear Valley Road between First and Second avenues, deputies said. It involved a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe and a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle. The motorcyclist was found to be dead when deputies arrived, according to Hesperia Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Karen Hunt.
Both vehicles were headed east on Bear Valley Road when the motorcycle rear-ended the Tahoe near Second Avenue, causing it to launch into the north side curb line on the west side of traffic, authorities said.
Bear Valley Road was closed at Second Avenue and Hesperia Road shortly after deputies arrived. All driveways on Bear Valley Road along that stretch were closed as well so deputies could conduct their investigation.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department's Major Accident Investigation Team.
The victim was not identified on Friday.
