Joplin, MO : A Webb City man died of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday, 12th May 2018

A Webb City man died of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle collision at 12:15 p.m. Saturday on Missouri Highway 96, a half-mile west of Oronogo in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Merle V. Norvell, 82, was taken to Mercy Hospital Joplin, where he was pronounced dead, the state patrol said.

Norvell was driving an eastbound pickup truck that was struck by a northbound Chrysler Town and Country van driven by John F. Wilkins, 84, of Oronogo, when Wilkins failed to yield the right of way, the patrol said. The impact caused Norvell's truck to overturn, throwing him from the vehicle, the patrol said.
