Center Point man killed in wreck Thursday

A single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning claimed the life of a Center Point man, according to the Alabama Department of Public Safety.Richard L. Morgan, 64, was killed when the 2009 Ford Focus that he was driving struck a dump truck bed that was in the roadway. The crash happened at 6:20 a.m. on the entrance ramp of Interstate 459 southbound near the Amber Hills Road overpass.

A tri-axle dump truck struck the nearby overpass causing its bed to break away from the cab before settling in Morgan's path of travel.

The victim was not wearing his seatbelt.No further information is available as State Troopers continue to investigate.
