Lafayette, LA : Bicyclist in critical condition after wreck on U.S. 90 Saturday night, May 7, 2016
A 44-year-old Lafayette bicyclist was in critical condition Saturday night after he was hit by an SUV on U.S. 90, Lafayette police said.
The man, who was not identified, was riding a bike on U.S. 90 west in the left turn lane, approaching Verot School Road around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, said Cpl. Paul Mouton, Lafayette Police spokesman.
The bike rider apparently turned into the path of a GMC Sierra SUV traveling behind him, Mouton said.
The man was thrown from the bicycle, Mouton said, and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the GMC was not hurt in the crash, Mouton said.
