Lowell, MA : Dracut man dies in violent single-vehicle crash on Lowell Connector on Monday, October 20, 2014
Police say a Dracut man has died after his car struck a brick wall after exiting the Lowell Connector.
The victim of the violent crash just after 7 p.m. Monday was identified as 32-year-old Joseph Zabawa.
Police say the initial investigation indicates that Zabawa's vehicle was speeding and failed to negotiate the turn while exiting the Lowell Connector and crashed into a brick wall on Gorham Street.
No other vehicles were involved and Zabawa was the LONEoccupant of the car.
Witnesses tell The Sun of Lowell that the car was on fire and several people tried to put out the flames and help the unresponsive driver. They said the driver was pinned by the dashboard and engine.
