Brewer, ME : Woman brought to hospital after crash on I-395 bridge on Wednesday morning, January 28, 2015
Slippery road conditions were a contributing factor in a crash on the Veterans Memorial Bridge on Wednesday morning, Maine State Police Trooper Adam Coover said.
The accident sent Megan Yurchick, who is pregnant, to the hospital, according to Coover. Yurchick was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Cindy Gierke, 30, of Sedgwick, Coover said.
Yurchick’s age and hometown were not available. There was also a 4-year-old child in the car, who was not hurt.
Gierke was traveling east on Interstate 395 when she lost control on the icy road along the Brewer side of the bridge, according to Coover.
Blowing and drifting snow made the road slick, the trooper said. Yurchick was brought to Eastern Maine Medical Center for precautionary reasons related to her pregnancy, Coover said. Gierke was not injured.
