Rapid City,SD : Harley rider dies in head-on crash near Rapid City on may, saturday 6th 2017
A 37-year-old man is dead after crashing his motorcycle Saturday into a pickup while passing in a no-passing zone eight miles west of Rapid City.
According to Tony Mangan, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety, the motorcyclist was eastbound on a 2002 Harley Davidson and trying to pass a van in a no-passing zone on Nemo Road near Rapid City when he collided with a westbound 2002 F-350 Ford pickup.
It happened about 4:35 p.m., MDT, Saturday.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.
The pickup driver, a 62-year-old man and his passenger, a 15-year-old girl, were wearing seat belts and were not hurt, according to a news release from Mangan.
The people's names were not released pending notification of their families.
The state Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
