Kankakee, IL : 1 dead, 3 injured in fiery 3-vehicle crash on Monday, 7th November 2016
A three-vehicle accident in rural Manteno resulted in the death of Matthew Denham on Monday.
The accident occurred about 2 p.m. on North 3000E Road and East 7500N Road. It involved an SUV, semitractor and a minivan.
Denham, 47, of Manteno, was pronounced dead at Riverside Medical Center at 2:54 p.m., Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner said. He said the investigation continues.
One person was airlifted to a suburban hospital by helicopter that landed in a cornfield west of the accident scene. Two other accident victims were taken to local hospitals. One person involved in the accident refused treatment.
According to authorities, the SUV was on fire but the occupant, Denham, was removed from the vehicle by a witness before firefighters arrived.
The minivan rolled numerous times after being hit.
The Illinois State Police accident reconstruction team was called to the scene.
