West Yellowstone, Montana
A Bozeman man convicted of a felony DUI was taken into custody last weekend for an alleged probation violation after he reportedly ran into a vehicle while riding a bicycle drunk.
Edwin Knight, 50, was arrested Sunday on a probation hold after he was cited for misdemeanor failure to obey traffic lights.
Knight appeared in Gallatin County Justice Court on Monday morning where his bail was set at $50,000.
According to a probation report, Knight was charged for running a stop sign on his bicycle. Police allege that Knight ran his bike into a vehicle, leaving a dent. His blood alcohol content was reportedly 0.322, according to a breath test taken about two hours after the crash.
Knight was convicted of felony DUI in 2015. He was initially charged with the count following an October 2014 crash.
According to charging documents in that case, the Montana Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Cottonwood Road at the intersection of Kent Spur Road in which a truck that was swerving on the road hit a power pole.
At the time, Knight had three previous DUI convictions.
After pleading guilty to the offense, Knight received a 13-month commitment to the Montana Department of Corrections for placement in a alcohol treatment program to be followed by five years of probation.
