COESSE, IN : A woman was killed and a man was seriously hurt after crash on Monday, September 18th 2017
A woman was killed and a man was seriously hurt after crashing a motorcycle in Whitley County Sunday night.
The crash was reported around 10:00 p.m.
Emergency crews responded to the westbound lanes of U.S. 30 between County Road 600 East and County Road 500 East near Coesse.
Indiana State Trooper Jeremy Brice said Michael Miller, 40 of Cromwell may have lost control of the motorcycle while changing lanes. There is uneven pavement in that area due to ongoing road work, said Trooper Brice. The bike landed in the median ditch between the westbound and eastbound lanes. Mari Miller, 43 of Cromwell was the passenger on the motorcycle. She was thrown from the bike and hit by a passing car, said Trooper Brice. Mari Miller died at the scene. Michael Miller was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Police on the scene originally told NewsChannel 15 that the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash. That information later changed after it was discovered that a passing vehicle struck the passenger who was on the motorcycle.
The westbound lanes of U.S. 30 were closed until around 1:30 Monday morning.
The crash is under investigation.
