Police in Syracuse say a 2-year-old boy has survived with only minor injuries after being thrown from a car that overturned in a five-vehicle crash that left a motorcyclist seriously injured.

Wednesday’s crash in Interstate 690’s westbound lanes involved four cars and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist’s injuries aren’t considered life-threatening. Two other people suffered minor injuries.

Police initially said the boy remained secured in a car seat while being ejected from the car. Officials said Wednesday that it’s unclear if the child was in a safety seat at the time.

Police say a car seat was found at the scene, bu their investigation into how the child came to be ejected is continuing.

The crash closed the interstate for more than two hours as cars were towed from the scene.
