Wilmington, OH : Two sent injured in Mespo crash, 87 now open on August 31, 2016
State Route 87 is open following a two-car crash that sent both drivers to the hospital.
Shane Hall, 30, of Rootstown, was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck east on Route 87 when Kenny Brown, 30, of Orwell, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram van in the opposite direction, crossed the center lane and hit the truck, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The impact sent the truck off of the road into a mailbox and the van into a ditch before it hit a utility pole.
Hall was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Cleveland and Brown was taken to Geauga Medical Center. The drivers were not wearing seatbelts.
Route 87 was closed for a short time because of debris on the road, according to the patrol.
