Plainfield,CT : Car crash leads to marijuana-related arrest in Plainfield on December, Monday 18th 2017
A car crashing into a utility pole led to a marijuana-related arrest in Plainfield on Monday.
According to police, a car crashed into a utility pole on Main Street just before 9 a.m. As officers were directing traffic, a vehicle failed to obey the directions of police and drove through the accident scene.
Officials then approached the driver who was identified as 19-year-old Isaac Ortiz of Moosup. Police say his vehicle smelled of marijuana and that Ortiz admitted to having it in his possession and smoking it prior to operating his vehicle.
Ortiz failed a number of roadside sobriety tests and was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs, Illegal Possession of Marijuana, and other related charges.
He was later processed, released and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 2.
There were no injuries reported for the initial accident.
