GATE CITY, VA : Fort Blackmore man killed in logging accident on Tuesday, November 15th 2016

Law enforcement officials in Scott County say that a man’s first day on the job cutting timber ended tragically on Monday. Deputies were dispatched to the Manville community on Monday afternoon to investigate a death.

Upon arrival, deputies reported observing a male subject pinned between large trees. Authorities said the victim, Steven Wayne Craft, 31, of Fort Blackmore, was trimming limbs from the top of the cut trees when a log shifted, pinning him between the trees.

Craft’s body was sent to Roanoke for an autopsy.
