Utica, N.Y : Woman injured in Rome crash on Friday, March 10, 2017

A Lyons Falls woman suffered minor injuries following a motor vehicle crash in Rome, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Around 11:50 a.m., Lilli M. Dougherty, 24, of Lyons Falls, was operating her 2006 Ford Escape north on Route 233 in Rome when an uninvolved vehicle that was traveling south on Route 233 had entered the northbound lane, deputies said.

Dougherty allegedly swerved to avoid a head-on collision and lost control of her vehicle, and her vehicle crossed over the southbound lane and she collided with a group of trees on the west shoulder of the road, deputies report.

Dougherty was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital by AmCare Ambulance for complaints of neck pain, deputies said.

A 2-year-old child was not injured in the crash but was transported to the hospital for an evaluation, deputies report.

No tickets have been issued at this time.

Rome Fire Department and Stanwix Heights Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene, deputies said.
