Two Utah residents have died and another is in critical condition in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday, Feb. 14, near Cold Spring in Stearns County in east-central Minnesota.
Killed in the crash were Cody Randall and JD Randall of Washington City, Utah. Trapped in the vehicle, extricated and later airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in the Twin Cities was Katie Seegmiller, also of Washington City. She was listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.
In the 8 a.m. crash, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said a 2008 Mitsubishi Gallant occupied by the Utah residents was traveling southbound on a county highway when the driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle and slid sideways into the northbound lanes.
When the vehicle entered the northbound traffic lane, the vehicle collided with a 2002 Buick LeSabre driven by Sandra Hansen of Cold Spring, Minn. The crash sent the Mitsubishi into the ditch where it rolled, with the Randalls ejected from the vehicle. Responders attempted lifesaving measures on the two, however, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Hansen was also extricated from her vehicle and transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to the St. Cloud Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
The crash is still under investigation.
