WILLMAR, MN : Man injured in Willmar crash in the 1500 block of First Street south near the Skylark Mall on Saturday, 25th August 2018

Andrew Ryder, 56, of Willmar, was injured Saturday morning when the vehicle he was driving struck a pole and overturned.
The accident was reported shortly after 10 a.m. in the 1500 block of First Street south near the Skylark Mall.

According to the Willmar Police Department, Ryder was driving a 2015 Volkswagen eastbound through the Skylark Mall parking lot when the vehicle accelerated and struck a steel and concrete-reinforced pole and sign/structure.The vehicle then overturned and landed on its roof.

Ryder was transported by Willmar Ambulance to Rice Hospital in Willmar with unknown injuries. According to the police report, Ryder was wearing his seatbelt which investigators believe helped spare him from even more severe injury.

The Willmar Ambulance Service, Willmar Fire Department, Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the scene of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
