WINTER HAVEN, FL : Lakeland motorcyclist dies 8 days after Haven crash on April, Saturday 8th 2017
A motorcyclist, 60-year-old Paul Ohlinger of Lakeland, died Saturday of injuries he suffered during a traffic accident eight days earlier.
Ohlinger had been taken to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center following the two-vehicle crash that happened about midnight
According to a news release from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Ohlinger had been driving a 1999 Honda Valkyrie on eastbound Havendale Boulevard when he attempted to turn from a designated turn lane onto westbound Derby Avenue. His motorcycle collided with a 2008 Chrysler 300 driven by Christina Lewis, 36. She had turned from westbound Havendale Boulevard onto westbound Derby.The Chrysler had the right-of-way and the motorcyclist failed to yield, based on physical evidence and witness statements, the news release said.
Ohlinger was not wearing a helmet. Lewis was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
