Pierre,SD : Motorcyclist sent to hospital following collision with car on August, Tuesday 15th 2017

A Pierre man was sent to the hospital after police say his motorcycle was hit by a car at the intersection of Highland and Broadway Avenues.

Pierre Police Capt. Jason Jones said that the incident happened at about 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday. Jan Osterkamp, 66, was headed west on Broadway when he entered the intersection on his 2006 Suzuki motocycle, Jones said. A Chevrolet Impala, driven by 55-year-old April Neuhauser, was headed south on Highland and struck Osterkamp’s motorcycle in the intersection, Jones said.

Osterkamp was wearing a helmet, Jones said, but was taken to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment following the collision. Neuhauser was cited for a stop-sign violation, Jones said.

Damage was estimated at $100 to the Impala and $500 to the motorcycle, Jones said.
