Racine, WI : Pregnant woman and child injured in Racine hit and run accident on Tuesday, November 4, 2014
The vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident that seriously injured a pregnant woman and her 3-year-old daughter in Racine has been located, Racine police said Wednesday night.
The two were struck about 6 p.m. Tuesday while they were in a crosswalk at the intersection of Goold and N. Main streets, according to a news release.
The woman was about 38 weeks pregnant and taken to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center, where an emergency Caesarean section was performed to deliver her baby. The woman and her newborn were in serious condition, police said.
The 3-year-old was thrown several feet when she and her mother were struck but suffered only minor injuries, according to authorities.
Police have also identified the driver but no arrests in connection with the incident were reported Wednesday night.
