Wilmington,DE : Chicken truck crash closes road, causes power outages on December, Tuesday 12th 2017
A crash Tuesday morning west of Felton involving a tractor-trailer carrying chickens has knocked out power to area residents and is causing traffic problems, said Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, a spokeswoman with the Delaware State Police.
The crash has closed Sandtown Road from John Hurd to Cabin Ridge roads, Jaffe said.
The vehicle lost its load of chickens and the road is expected to be closed for an extended period of time as crews clean up the debris, Jaffe said.

At about 7 a.m., the Delaware Electric Cooperative reported about 60 customers in the area of the crash were without power, according to the company's website.
Power was restored by about 9 a.m., according to the website.

Motorists should find an alternate route, Jaffe said.
