Claymont, DE : Driver killed when car hits traffic light pole, turns onto roof on Interstate 495 early Friday, Oct 2, 2015
Delaware State Police say a Philadelphia man was killed when the car he was driving hit a traffic light pole and turned onto its roof in Claymont.
It happened early Friday on Interstate 495. Troopers say 57-year-old Ralph James was speeding on the ramp to Philadelphia Pike when his car hit a curb, hit the concrete median and across the road.
Police say the car hit a traffic sign and a traffic light pole, then turned onto its roof. Authorities say James, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the car.
James was pronounced dead at the scene.
