NORTHFIELD, MA : Slippery road leads to Northfield crash on April, Saturday 1st 2017
Northfield, Massachusetts
A woman was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center with minor injuries following a one-car crash on Pine Meadow Road Saturday morning.
According to Northfield Fire Chief Floyd “Skip” Dunnell III, the driver was traveling in a Mercury sedan shortly before 9 a.m. when the vehicle “slid out of the travel lane and hit a tree.”
“The road conditions were definitely the cause,” he said.
Dunnell said the vehicle’s airbags deployed and the driver was transported by Northfield Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Northfield EMS Chief Mark Fortier said her injuries, which were minor, resulted from her seat belt use and the airbag deployment. Dunnell said two other passengers were both uninjured.
With damage to its front end, the vehicle was towed, Dunnell said.
The response represented the first call for Northfield EMS’ new ambulance, which was put in service on March 24.
“The ambulance went on it’s first call and it performed without any issue,” Fortier said of the new four-wheel drive vehicle. “It was a fantastic addition to the service, especially in today’s weather conditions.”
