A police officer was struck on Friday afternoon in a hit-and-run accident in Oakland.

The incident occurred about 2:40 p.m., according to Oakland police. An officer was walking near 7th and Jefferson Street when a vehicle struck her, and then fled the scene.

Officers were able to catch up with the motorist and take him into custody.

The officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was not hospitalized.
