Center City, Pennsylvania
A Baden man was in the Beaver County Jail after his vehicle crashed into a Center Township police car while driving under the influence, authorities reported.
According to a police report, officers were notified at about 2 a.m. March of a hit-and-run on Constitution Boulevard and Monaca Road in Center Township. Police said a vehicle crashed into a stop sign and guard rail and then continued driving south on Monaca Road.
Officers soon found the car driving toward Center Grange Road, police said. According to the report, the driver, later identified as 54-year-old Joseph R. Trentafellow, refused to stop for police.
Police said Trentafellow drove “in a careless and reckless manner” while officers followed him. After about a mile, Trentafellow’s car struck one of the police cars in the front driver-side door and fender, police said.
According to the report, Trentafellow “continued to gas the vehicle” and tried to drive off but eventually unlocked the doors to his car.
Trentafellow failed three field sobriety tests, police said. According to the report, he refused to submit to a blood test.
Police said he was found in possession of a pipe containing residue of suspected crack cocaine.
Trentafellow, of 803 Fifth St., Apartment C35, is charged by Center Township police with drunken driving, aggravated assault, fleeing police, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia.
