Town of Brookfield, WI :Two-vehicle crash slows down traffic during rush hour in the Town of Brookfield on Tuesday, September 9, 2014
Two men are recovering at Elmbrook Hospital after a crash during rush hour at Capitol Drive and Springdale Road in the Town of Brookfield.
Town of Brookfield police said a black SUV was driving fast out of a construction zone near Barker Road, where he wasn't supposed to be, and T-boned a gray car.
The SUV landed upside down.
Christina Palladino talked to a 17-year-old Pewaukee boy who said he helped get the men out of their vehicles.
"He was screaming in pain, screaming in terror, which I can still hear in my head, and it's driving me insane. Just him screaming at the top of his lungs," Chase Seliger said.
Seliger said he then went over to help the man in the gray car, but by that time, police and paramedics were arriving at the scene.
"I kind of have to help them, and I couldn't drive away that would be horrible to not know what would have happened to the people," he said.
Seliger said his instincts just kicked in to help the two drivers, and he hopes other people would do the same for him.
All lanes of Capitol Drive were closed in both directions from Springdale Road to Brookfield Road for several hours. They reopened at about 8:30 p.m.
