Phoenix, AZ : 2 drivers seriously injured in early-morning crash in Phoenix on Monday, 23rd December, 2019
Two men were seriously injured Monday morning, with one in extremely critical condition, after a car crash at 43rd Avenue and Buckeye Road, Phoenix police said.
The crash took place just before 3 a.m. when the driver of a sedan was driving on Buckeye Road at a high rate of speed and then ran a red light at 43rd Avenue, according to spokeswoman Mercedes Fortune.
The sedan hit an SUV traveling south on 43rd Avenue, she said.
The two men were hospitalized Monday morning. The driver of the sedan was in extremely critical condition while the driver of the SUV suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, Fortune said.
Police say impairment and speed are believed to be factors with the driver of the sedan. No arrests or citations had been issued by Monday afternoon, Fortune said.
The two men were the only occupants of the vehicles at the time of the crash, according to police.
