Five people were injured in a rollover crash on north Phoenix freeway

Five people were injured in a rollover crash Monday afternoon on north Phoenix freeway, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

The extent of their injuries was not known. The patients were taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital and John C. Lincoln North Mountain.

The rollover occurred just before 3 p.m. within the transition ramp of northbound State Route 51 to the eastbound Loop 101, said DPS spokesman Raul Garcia.

The northbound Greenway on-ramp is closed. The transition ramp of northbound SR 51 to eastbound SR 101 is also shut down, Garcia said.

As of 3 p.m., the closure is expected to be in effect for at least two hours.
