Gainesville,FL : Driver leaves scene of crash on I-75 on may, wednesday 3rd 2017
The driver of an older model Toyota Camry is believed to have left the scene of a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 75 Wednesday night.
The crash occurred around 10:16 p.m. near mile marker 394 on I-75 southbound, according to a Florida Highway Patrol media release.Troopers said a tractor-trailer, driven by Gary Williams, 53, of Jacksonville, slowed down because of construction ahead on the interstate.
A 1998 Chevy S10 pickup, driven by Jerry Huckaby, 47, Thomaston, Georgia, was behind the semi. He also slowed down.
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Camry, which was behind the pickup, did not slow down, according to FHP. It rear-ended the Chevy, which then hit the tractor-trailer.
After the accident, Huckaby was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Two passengers in the Camry — Abigail Rowe, 32, of St. Petersburg, and a 13-year-old Fort White girl — said the driver left the scene and headed west into the woods, according to FHP.
Charges are pending.
