Oklahoma City, OK : Three year-old boy was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Friday night October 17th 2014
A 3-year-old boy’s family is looking for answers one day after a hit-and-run crash put him in the hospital.
Witnesses said a pickup truck ran over Christian Pizaro Friday night at a car wash near 5100 S. Pennsylvania Ave.
Antonio Moreno said he watched the driver circle back before taking off.
“He yells out ‘I didn’t see him.’ I turn back to see if the child’s OK. I told him if he could wait here. As I turned back again, he’s not here anymore, he had drove off,” Moreno said.
Christian’s family members said they don’t understand how anyone could leave after hitting a child.
“It’s just hurtful," said Christian’s aunt, Rubi Acondo. "Because, I mean, he’s a little 3-year-old boy. He wasn’t a dog. You didn’t hit an animal and just left it there. You hit a kid. And to have just left like that was wrong.”
Acondo said Christian is a happy and energetic little boy who is always on the go. She said now it’s hard to see him lying quietly in a hospital bed.
“It’s his right side. His entire right side is all scraped and red and swollen,” she said.
Christian also has a chest tube to help remove air and blood around his lungs.
“He was just like, 'I want my Spider-Man shoes,' and, 'Let’s go home'," Acondo said.
Family members said they are staying beside Christian while he heals. Family members said they are thankful he’s alive and will continue to pray for justice.
“I would have stopped," Acondo said. "Because it’s not an animal, it’s a human being, and especially not an older one. It was a 3-year-old boy.”
Doctors said they aren’t sure when Christian will be released.
Police are still searching for the driver of a 1990s or 2000s-model white Chevy extended cab pickup. The family said they don’t want to get anyone in trouble, but they do want answers.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash can call police.
