Munster,IN : Hobart woman involved in fatal crash on I-94 in South Holland on April, Monday 9th 2018
A Hobart woman was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 northbound in South Holland that killed two people and snarled traffic Monday afternoon.
The crash occurred at 12:23 p.m. after a black 2007 GMC SUV rear-ended a gray 2004 Pontiac Sedan in the middle lane of I-94 south of 159th Street, according to Indiana State Police. The impact caused the gray Pontiac Sedan to crash into the right concrete wall, killing two of its occupants.
Police identified the deceased as Edward Robinson, 58, of Chicago, and Charlene Robinson, 93. A 46-year-old passenger in the Pontiac Sedan was transported to Christ Advocate Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois, in serious condition.
The occupants of the black GMC SUV were unharmed in the crash. The driver of the black GMC SUV was identified by police as a 31-year-old Hobart woman. A 30-year-old Hobart man and a 3-year-old Hobart child were passengers in the GMC SUV.
The crash caused all lanes south of 159th Street to be closed until 3:15 p.m., police said.
It was unknown Monday night whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, police said.
