Thousand Oaks, CA : One person involved in the crash on Highway 101 in Thousand Oaks on Thursday night, November 13, 2014
Thousand Oaks, California
Authorities responded to an injury vehicle crash Thursday night off Highway 101 in Thousand Oaks as traffic in the area seemed more backed up than usual.
The crash was reported at 7:35 p.m. near Conejo School Road and Willow Lane, adjacent to Highway 101.
Crews with the Ventura County Fire Department responded after a person involved in the crash complained of pain, authorities said.
Ventura County Sheriff's Office conducted traffic control in the area near the crash, authorities said.
Meanwhile, witnesses reported heavy traffic on Highway 101 and Highway 23 in the same area as the crash.
One witness said it took 30 minutes to travel four miles south on Highway 101 between the Highway 23 interchange and Westlake Village, while another witness reported traffic on Highway 23 appeared backed up far in the direction of Simi Valley.
The Willow Lane wreck was the only one confirmed in the area, although light rain was falling and the California Highway Patrol said it was assisting with traffic as crews worked on highway construction at Highway 101 and Rancho Road near the interchange.
All three factors could have affected traffic as some drivers slowed for the rain, to look at the crash near the highway or in response to the highway construction.
