Troy, N.C : Seagrove-area woman killed in Montgomery accident Tuesday evening, April 4, 2017
A Seagrove-area woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Montgomery County Tuesday evening.
According to a report from Trooper D.S. Paige of the N.C. Highway Patrol, Billie Rose Brown, 74, who was a passenger, died from injuries in the accident which occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on N.C. 134 near Okeeweemee Road. She lived at a Moore County residence with a Seagrove address.
Paige reported that Morgan Kelsey Brown, 43, of Troy, was driving a 2008 Huyndai Elantra in which his parents and daughter were passengers. He had stopped on N.C. 134 to make a left turn into the parking lot at Denson’s Creek Golf Course.
Elizabeth Sue Bruton, 59, of Candor, was also northbound on N.C. 134 in a 2010 Dodge Journey. Bruton failed to reduce speed and collided with the stopped vehicle, according to Paige. She was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Bruton and her son, a passenger, were not injured.
Billie Brown was a passenger in the left rear of the Huyndai. Her husband, Carl Brown, 78, was a passenger in the front seat; he was transported to Moore Regional Hospital with a back injury. Lauren Brown, 16, who was riding on the right side of the back seat, was not injured.
