Wichita, KS : 29-year-old Man killed when car hits parked semi on I-135 in south central Wichita on Tuesday night, Nov 3, 2015

A 29-year-old Wichita man died Tuesday night when the car he was driving struck a parked semi on the shoulder of an interstate highway in Wichita, authorities said.

A passenger in the car, a 2013 four-door Kia Rio, was reported injured in the crash, which occurred at 9:48 p.m. Tuesday on northbound Interstate 135 in south central Wichita.

The fatality victim was identified as David C. Bean Jr., 29,of Wichita. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.

The passenger was identified as Eli H. Johnson, 23, also of Wichita, was reported possibly injured. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. The patrol said he was wearing a seat belt.

the driver of the parked 2007 Peterbilt semi-trailer was identified as Travis A. Adkins, 41, of Barnes City, Iowa. The patrol said he was sitting in the driver’s side at the time of the crash because the vehicle had become disabled and was shut off on the shoulder of the roadway.
