Inman,SC : South Carolina woman charged in July 2017 fatal bicycle crash on January, Sunday 28th 2018
A South Carolina woman has been charged months after a bicycle crash left one man dead.
The Spartanburg Herald-Journal reports that 31-year-old Heather Renee Hall was arrested Sunday and charged with reckless homicide in the July 2017 death of 53-year-old Jeff Pierce.
S.C. Highway Patrol trooper Joe Hovis says it took about six months for the division’s investigating team to close the case and turn over findings to the 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, which made the decision to charge Hall.
Hall had been driving a Buick when she struck the bicyclist, who died at the scene of the crash. His death led the Spartanburg Freewheelers cycling club to call for stiffer laws against distracted driving and a billboard campaign.
It’s unclear whether Hall has a lawyer.
