Denver, CO : Pedestrian killed in fatal hit-and-run crash on Thursday December 3 2015
Lakewood police have arrested a man after a fatal hit-and-run crash.
Department spokesman Ty Countryman tells The Denver Post that 53-year-old Jonathan Cordova was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, DUI and hit-and-run after a woman was hit crossing a street Thursday night.
The victim, whose name hasn't been released, died at the scene.
According to an arrest affidavit, Cordova told police he had been drinking in Central City and took a bus back to the Lakewood area. He then drove to a local bar and had "two or three beers" before driving to his girlfriend's house.
Police say Cordova told them he knew he hit something but didn't know what. He later said "she stepped in front of me."
Booking documents don't indicate if Cordova has hired an attorney. He has a lengthy record of DUI charges.
