Pembroke Park, FL : Motorcyclists killed in crash on Southwest 40th Avenue and West Hallandale Beach Boulevard in West Park on Sunday, 1st March, 2020
A motorcycle rider from Plantation and a rider from Belle Glade died when their bikes collided in a West Park crash, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday on Southwest 40th Avenue and West Hallandale Beach Boulevard in West Park.
According to the sheriff’s office, Oscar Boatright, 35, of Belle Glade, was riding a 2015 Harley Davidson east on West Hallandale Beach Boulevard when he made a U-turn at 40th Avenue. While making the turn he was “struck in a T-bone collision” by the 2015 Kawasaki ZX1400 being driven by Michael McKenzie, 32, of Plantation, the sheriff’s office said.
Both men were wearing helmets but died at the crash scene, according to investigators.
When the two motorcycles collided, debris from the crash struck another motorcyclist, Leroy Carrigan. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.
