HULL, IL : Barry man killed in one-vehicle crash Saturday in Pike County on Saturday, February 4th 2017

A Barry man died in a one-vehicle crash Saturday along Pike County Highway 57 about a quarter-mile west of Illinois 96 near Hull.

Pike County Sheriff Paul Petty said the Pike County 911 received a call at 12:12 p.m. from a passer-by who reported seeing a vehicle in a ditch. A subsequent investigation showed the driver of the vehicle, Cory E. Slone, 33, was found unresponsive in the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Petty said the vehicle -- a 1994 Black Ford F-150 single cab pickup truck-- appeared to have been heading east toward Illinois 96 when it went off the north side of the road and struck an embankment, causing severe damage to the vehicle.

Illinois State Police and the Pike County coroner's office were investigating the crash, which remains under investigation.

Petty said foul play is not suspected.
